We all know this, but obviously docs and for that matter moms aren't getting the message. It's logic to them -- you can't make 3 or 4 extra cups of liquid if you're not drinking a lot, so the theory goes, though I've never figured out how that translates into the amounts I see people trying to drink. Anyway, how do you all suggest dealing with this in a group setting? At my LLL meetings, whenever we have a mom with perceived low supply (usually soft breasts, fussy baby, the usual), there's virtually always another mom who swears by drinking a gallon of water plus a gallon of Mother's Milk Tea every day. Yikes. The last time this happened, the mom giving the advice was going through a traumatic move as her baby's father had just gone to prison. She didn't need her self esteem hammered by people telling her she was outright wrong, but at the same time I hate to let information like that stand.
