It could be that moms needs to eliminate milk or such. 
Just listened to Jack Newman's talk at the GOLD conf. 2013 and the would like to reiterate the concept that there is a huge difference between spitting up breastmilk and spitting up formula.  JN says that spitting up formula is bad, and spitting up breastmilk is not only not bad, it is a beneficial fluid that the baby is spitting up, which could be considered good.
