Can anyone explain why sometimes we see "breastfeeding" with a hyphen
(breast-feeding) and sometimes not?

It seems to me that breastfeeding knowledgable and supportive people use
"breastfeeding" (no hyphen), while newspaper articles or people that aren't
used to using the word, use the hyphen (breast-feed, or breast-milk) or
seperate the words completely (breast feed, breast milk).
