Then again, I assume that the NYC handout was prepared and or reviewed by lactation people? If not, I guess the FIRST question is: why are non-IBCLCs in a Public Health Department writing Lactation Guidelines for Physicians, and, why has it not been reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness?

I recently reminded my WIC staff that these things are NOT appropriate to say to a mom struggling with breastfeeding:

"ALL mothers can breastfeed."
"You just need to relax."
"Just keep trying!"
and...
"Are you drinking enough water?"

Not down on NYC per se- just hate to see stuff like this pass for expert advice- especially if it is meant to enlighten physicians.
