"Permission to post: I'm counseling a mom who's pregnant with #3. With her first two she weaned after a couple of months, in part b/c she experienced dizziness/vertigo/"brain fog" from MER through about 30 minutes after each feed. Mom's health is otherwise good, to her knowledge. Any insights as to what could be causing this or suggestions in case it happens again? It sounds like it's not unheard of, as moms have discussed the phenomenon here:
http://www.breastfeeding.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48042 "

If we go to the last few pages of that forum, we will see that some of the moms found out their progesterone levels were extremely low and after taking some form of progesterone, the dizziness eased. One mom also mentioned something that occurred to me, and that is adrenal function. Having a baby is a huge stress on the body and in this day and age, very few women are well nourished their whole lives and can handle both the physical changes and the emotional and financial stresses around having a baby.

Chances are most of the women who give birth were fed some kind of artificial baby milk and never received their full complement of hormones and immune components in mother's milk. This could well be the backlash of the artificial feeding of generations of children (at the risk of sounding horribly pessimistic).

Love reading your background! What an honor to your mom and the work she has done to help us learn and grow and help others. Sweet!
