Biochemistry in not the strong point of the nurse manager either.  There
*is* carbohydrate in colostrum, and it is called lactose.  There is also a
little free glucose.  Protein is the very reason all the doctors want to
give formula, for crying out loud.  Glucose is rapidly metabolised.  A
source of protein will maintain the sugar better. And colostrum is *better*
than formula because it doesn't stimulate insulin secretion as does formula.
