The amount of any drug that goes into the eye, and then would get absorbed
from the conjunctiva would be really really tiny.  A drug contraindicated
during pregnancy is *not* necessarily contraindicated during breastfeeding,
and usually not.

I would not stop breastfeeding for this.  Besides, nothing else that could
be used, like acyclovir?  It still works.
