Re : Camphor on the breast

Please note that camphor when taken orally can be extraordinarily toxic and
induce severe seizures. Although topical absorption is less than oral,
topical camphor(liquid) can be well absorbed although slightly slower. More
than 20 reported deaths are in the literature, largely from oral
administration. Again, this is dose related, with most toxic doses in the
0.5 gm range and larger. Hence, Camphor is not innocuous!!!

I would suggest that the areola and nipple be thoroughly cleansed with a
detergent prior to breastfeeding if it is applied to the breast.
