It is her baby.  She gets to decide when he is discharged.  If she thinks he is feeding well, is confident she has the support she needs to ensure that he is growing well and to respond appropriately if he's not, then she can decide to take HER baby home. Equally, she is entitled, as the mother (mothers outrank doctors) to decline treatment.  If she is confident her baby has had enough to eat - or wants to eat at some time other than that mandated in the NICU schedule - then she can decline further nutritional intervention.  Or am I missing something?
