I am providing childbirth education to a young woman who was widowed in her
4th month of pregnancy. She is open to breastfeeding her baby , due in
late November, but feels she may need an antidepressant more than baby needs
breastmilk. I have seen some discussion concerning tricyclic antidepressants
not being contraindicated during breastfeeding. My questions are : is she
more prone to pp depression because of her grief?, will the tricyclic
depressants be of any help to a woman depressed as part of the grieving
process?
