I would have concerns about the baby's weight gain, too, but then I tend
to be more concerned about that kind of thing than most.
In dealing with slow weight gain, don't forget the most helpful first
course of action. Suggest the mother go to bed with the baby, for a
weekend or at least a long time. Lots of snuggling, skin-to-skin, and
someone else, if possible, close by to answer the phone and bring
refreshments!
If this mother has been dealing with a slow-gaining premie and is now
back at work, she certainly needs some rest.
