Hey All,
I think this is a great discussion.  From my humble perspective, it's all about reproductive mates, money, resources, social status (translate power and hierarchy) in various combinations.  And we are highly successful at manipulating all those variables and creating systems. Science is used in all kinds of ways.  That's the evidence and opinion.  The fact is the universe never established any facts but we depend upon them for our transitory existence, that's the conundrum.

If memory serves me correct, I think Herman Hesse stumbled upon this in Magister Ludi.

It's all very profound, and maybe one of the reasons Darwin was so careful.
