Drinks made with tonic water will glow when exposed to black light, but not
just "in the dark" on their own. I don't know if your event'll be strewn
with black lights, but if it's not, another idea:
Since luminol's not a plausible mixer, the containers might be a great
option. Several companies sell chemiluminescent cups/shot glasses/stir
sticks/"ice cubes"/straws (see
http://www.glowproducts.com/glow_stick/products_chemical_bar.html for
examples) -- and those could be a great mini-demo on chemiluminescence!
Chemiluminescence is one of my favorite topics EVER -- contact me off-list
for further ideas, if you wish!
