We still live in the steam era!  We get energy from coal and uranium  
by using them to heat water and generate steam to turn generator  
turbines.

In fact, I came to more easily understand nuclear power--and I think  
other folks do too--when I came to understand nuclear power plants  
are, on one hand, a refinement of steam power.  It's a question of  
how efficiently--or cheaply-- water can be heated into steam.  And  
it's a point often lost when nuclear power is taught through lessons  
focused entirely on the splitting of atoms.

Along those lines of opening the "black box," but in this case, those  
"white volcano-shaped" buildings.
