Call for Papers, Artist's Statements, and Book Proposals on  
Nanotechnology, Nanoscale Science and Art

Guest Editors:  Tom Rockwell (Exploratorium) and Tami I. Spector  
(Univ. of San Francisco/Leonardo)

Leonardo, in collaboration with the Exploratorium under the auspices  
of the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (http:// 
www.nisenet.org), has begun publishing work exploring the  
intersections of nanotech/science and art.  Manuscripts or artist's  
statements can be submitted for publication in Leonardo (http:// 
www.leonardo.info/isast/journal/editorial/edguides.html) or in  
Transactions, a section of the printed Leonardo journal that  
publishes camera-ready manuscripts for rapid publication (http:// 
www.leonardo-transactions.com/).  For information on submitting a  
book length manuscript see http://leonardo.info/isast/leobooks/ 
guidelines.html.

We are especially seeking:

- Visual Artist's statements explaining the relationship of their  
work to nanotech/science
- Manuscripts or artist's statements involving sound and tactile art  
works
- Manuscripts from scientists, engineers and scholars exploring the  
connection between nanotech/science and art
- Manuscripts and visuals aimed towards nanotech/science education  
that uses the arts as a pedagogical tool

Forthcoming articles to be published in Leonardo Journal on nanotech/ 
science include: Boo Chapel's "Can You Hear the Femur Play?: Bone  
Audio Speakers at the Nano Level"; Jane Bearinger's "Chaos Control on  
the Nanoscale"; and James Gimzewski's "Nanotechnology: The End Game  
of Materialism"
