Chemistry Challenge for Kids

The Sciencenter in Ithaca, N.Y. has created fun, easy, and safe
chemistry experiments for use in museums and classrooms. The goal of the
program was to develop simple activities so that children ages 5-12 can
investigate the properties of chemicals to solve puzzles or challenges,
such as “Fruit Juice Mystery” and “Disappearing Stains.” The activities
are available to museum educators and teachers through the Sciencenter’s
website and are free to download (http://www.sciencenter.org/chemistry).
This project was funded by The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation and
the Cornell Section of the American Chemical Society.

Our visitors have really enjoyed these activities, they use commonly available
materials in general, and it is easy for museum guides to learn to do them.
