Chester Bateman wrote asking about Marine Archaeology. Here is some more
information:

Besides Texas A&M Univ, East Carolina University in Greenville, NC (not
UNC at Chapel Hill) have the two graduate programs in maritime archy and
history. There are a couple of other schools that have courses or some
undergrad pprograms, but these are the biggest.

University of Hawaii is beginning a graduate certificat program titled
Maritime History and Underwater Archaeology. It is designed to be a
interdisciplinary program, and is semimodeled after ECU's program. For
more information contact: Dr. Sherwood Maynard, Marine Option Program,
1000 Pope Road, MSB, Room 229, University of Hawaii, Honolulu, HI 96822.

Other journals and books you can look for:

The INA Quarterly. From the Institute of Nautical Archaeology; PO Drawer
HG, College Station, TX 77841 (they are affiliated with Texas A&M).

The International Journal of Nautical Archaeology. Published for the
Nautical Archaeology Society - you can get a discount membership from INA.

Maritime Archaeology. by Keith Muckelroy. Cambridge Universtiy Press
(1978).

Maritime Archaeology. A Technical Handbook. by Jeremy Green. Academic
Press (1990).

The National Park Service has published several underwater archy reports,
such as:

Submerged Cultural Resources Study. USS Arizona Memorial and Pearl
Harbor National Historic Landmark. Southwest Cultural Resources Center
Professional Papers No. 23, Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The Archaeology of the Atomic Bomb. A Submerged Cultural Resources
Assessment of the Sunken Fleet of Operation Crossroads at Bikini and
Kwajalein Atoll Lagoons.

Micronesia. Submerged Cultural Resources Assessment.

Submerged Cultural Resources Assessment. Golden Gate National Recreation
Area, Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary and Point Reyes
National Seashore.

any of those will also list the dozen or so other reports that NPS has done.

Hope this helps to get you started.

Aloha
