Please join the Anthropology Graduate Student Committee (AGSC) at the University of Idaho today, Saturday May 4th at the Borah Theatre in the Student Union Building (3-5:30pm) for an exciting look at filmed archaeology. That’s right, filmed archaeology! Not archaeology in film but projects that have included a film component as part of public outreach. We’re showcasing short films produced by universities and museums in the Pacific/Inland Northwest and the Great Basin as part of Idaho’s Archaeology Awareness Month. This year’s festival is divided into two themes, Anthropology in Archaeology and the Action of Archaeology, followed by a discussion panel. Films include:

Mining on the Swell by Bingham Young University

Alpine Archaeology in the Land of the Blackfeet, Kootenai, Pend d’Orellie, and Salish by Montana State University

Man turned to Stone: Txwelátse by the Burke Museum, University of Washington

The Cyrus-Jacobs-Uberuaga House Public Archaeology Project by University of Idaho

The Archaeology of West Point, Seattle by the Burke Museum, University of Washington

We hope to see you there! While this is a rather belated post on HistArch we hope to get people thinking about submitting their films for next May. So, please think of us when filming your projects in the months leading up to May 2014!
