Happy New Year/ Bonne Année!
If you are a student planning to attend the SHA conference, January 7th -12th stop by the RAP session for Student Members on the 10th from 3:30 to 5pm!
For a fourth year, the student subcommittee of the Academic and Professional Training Committee (APTC) has organized a different type of session. Focused on the SHA's student members, this session is driven by their questions and concerns. Students sit with panelists in an informal round table setting. Rather than listening to research papers, participants are encouraged to move from one discussion to another where panelists will host conversations and answer questions. Topics discussed will range from fostering relationships with mentors to networking skills both at the conference and beyond. Panelists will address issues encountered at the various stages of both undergraduate and graduate careers. This is an opportunity to take a break, meet the panelists as well as other students while discussing student-based concerns.
This year, the student subcommittee has gathered Mary Beaudry (Professor of Anthropology, Archaeology, and Gastronomy, Boston University), Sara Mascia (VP, PI at Historical Perspectives, Inc., and Treasurer for SHA), Joseph Bagley (City Archaeologist, Boston, Mass.,) Anne Desgagné (PI at Parks Canada and Technology coordinator for SHA 2014 conference), and Alexis Ohman (MA Candidate, Simon Frasier University) as panelists.
