Position Announcement - Please Post

The Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory seeks applications
for the position of Curator of Federal Collections.  This is a
full-time, permanent, special appointment state government position
based at the Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum in St. Leonard, MD.

The Curator of Federal Collections is responsible for Federal
archaeological collections curated at the MAC Lab, including the
negotiation and management of agreements with Federal agencies to curate
collections, performing full physical inventories, providing
preventative conservation for artifacts, monitoring collections in
storage, organizing and maintaining collection records, and submitting
reports to Federal agencies. The curator is also expected to conduct
publishable research and public interpretation activities using the
collections.  

Graduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or related field with two
years experience in museum studies or collections management required.
Applicant may substitute an additional four years of archaeology and
collections experience for the required graduate degree.  Advanced
skills with computer databases, familiarity with Federal collections
management standards, and the ability to identify the full range of
artifacts found in the Mid-Atlantic region is also required.  

The position starts on or about April 13, 2005.  40 hour work week.
Salary $33,467/year.  Full state benefits.  Send letter and resume to
