Position Opening - Assistant Research Archeologist (North Dakota)


The Anthropology Research section of the Department of Anthropology,
University of North Dakota (UND), Grand Forks, anticipates hiring an
Assistant Research Archeologist to assist with its cultural resources
management (CRM) and archeological research program.  Incumbent will be
a supervising project archeologist for cultural resources management
work, including site survey, site evaluation, and collections management
in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, and Wyoming.

Master's degree (M.A./M.S.) in anthropology with specialization in
prehistoric or historic archeology is required, as is completion of a
master's thesis.  At least three years of prior field and laboratory
experience are required, one year in a supervisory position, with a
demonstrated ability to carry research projects through to completion.
 Preference will be given to persons with experience and expertise in
the northern Great Plains region.  Expertise with modern desktop
computers and various software packages also is required.

Terms of appointment:  Six months beginning in April or May 2005, with
the possibility of renewal; salary range $2500-3000 per month,
commensurate with qualifications and experience; full benefits including
health insurance and retirement.  Actual hiring is subject to candidate
qualifications and availability of funding from non-state appropriated
sources.
