All,
   Excuse the cross-post.  I have just come across a Bartmannkrug sherd
that is very heavily iron pyrite tempered.  You could easily use the back
as sandpaper!  It comes from an early 17th century context.  The pyrite
is all the same size, your typical sand grain size (sorry, don't have my
micron scales handy).  Has anyone seen this or does it signify some
particular area of manufacture?  Thanks.
