Deryk Barker observes of Lang Lang's debut disk

>Interesting, but I'm not going to start collecting him on the basis of this

The central appeal of Lang Lang's musicianship is unrecordable. He's one
of those musicians who thrives on physical contact with an audience and
audiences tend to respond extremely emotionally. The process becomes a
sort of feedback loop. I realize this doesn't help the collectors on
the list! Lang Lang's Philadelphia orchestra debut is next week, in
preparation for accomanying them to China where he is allegedly, to
paraphrase the Beatles, bigger than Mao %)

He's slated to record Rachmaninoff with Temirkanov, btw.
