The St. Matthew Passion is one of the rare occasions where I'd actually
recommend Nikolaus Harnoncourt.  IIRC David Wilcocks conducts the chorus
and sparks the Concentus Musicus to a great performance.  Karl
Ridderbusch's Jesus and Kurt Equiluz's Evangelist are memorable among
the singers.
