Unfortunately it looks as if it's going to be rather difficult, at
least in the short term, to get the fabled Horenstein 1966 performance
over here.  So now it's probably a toss-up between Klemperer and Walter
1938 (my library has the Dohnanyi recording that Steve Schwartz so
admired).  Is this comparing apples and pears, or is one a better first
buy than the other? If the Walter, is there much in it between the cheaper
EMI and the Dutton transfer?
