I remember a performance of the Bruckner 9th, with the L.A. Phil and Zubin
Mehta, a lot of years ago -- before cassette recorders were the norm. In
the last few bars, when the soft horn chords and low strings were about
all you hear, there came the loud slap slap slap of tape running out.
A pitiable moment for sure, and mortification for the tape recordist.

PS -- I was not the recordist!
