Watching the PBS broadcast of the SSO first concert in their new venue,
I was extremely taken with the Webern work, Langsamer Satz. It was a
ravishing piece for string orchestra akin to Strauss' Metamophosen. I
loved it. Can someone tell me more about this work? Are there any other
Webern pieces of similar ilk? Was this a transcription of a work for string
quartet? I am not familiar with Webern's works but would guess that this
piece is quite atypical.
