I meant that the business types thought that were courting the
blue-rinsed matrons, not that Austin's matrons (feisty as they are)
objected to the music of Benjamin Lees.  But your explication of what
happened is interesting.  The station went for expansion, hired staff,
needed more money...amd lost its soul.  Much the same reason the major
labels have abandoned classical music: it won't pay for office buildings
full of expensive lawyers and overpaid executives.
