Bonjour Gavin

<The UK has notoriously lax legislation concerning the protection of its population from pesticide intoxication.>
<I'm not aware of that reputation. Would you like to explain?>

I thought the statement from the Department for the Environment, Food, and Rural Affaires, “Our comments are restricted to issues relating to environmental protection, and we have not commented on human health issues, including Chapter 6 on informing neighbours of spraying activity.”, was quite explicate.

< However it is a label requirement to control the dust from pneumatic seeders. It is the Law. >

Printing a warning on a sack is hardly a law. Law is a system of rules enforced through social institutions.
A law should be backed up by some means of enforcement and carry a penalty in case of non-compliance. If it doesn’t it’s probably a recommendation from DEFRA.

Best wishes,
Bil
