...what's been working for me (suggested by michael bush), are 
popsicle sticks glued (or waxed) into a grooved top bar (the long 
way, all the way across).  i use the walmart "jumbo" popsicle sticks 
from the craft dept.  ...just make sure to glue them all the way 
across the top bar...easiest to do before assembling the frame.
