Ron was trying to get a fairly pure strain of AMM, which the bees
pictured are plainly not, but switched to selection for varroa
resistance as he considers this to be more pressing. Rodger Dewhurst
and cronies in W.Cornwall are trying to do both. Rodger has noted that
the bees that tug at the hairs on the back of your hand are from hives
that show some resistance. Somebody visiting the far east recently
noted that it is the habit of the local bees, Apis cerana, to do this.
