Middle Tennessee State University, Department of Sociology and
Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track position in
Archaeology (#129250) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to
begin August 1, 2000. PhD in Anthropology preferred, ABD considered.
Ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in and commitment to both
scholarly research and teaching. Ability to teach a broad range of
offerings in anthropology is essential including a 4-field Introduction to
Anthropology, Introduction to Archaeology, Archaeological Methods, and
topical archaeology courses. Applicants with additional background in
forensic anthropology, physical/biological anthropology, zooarchaeology,
and/or paleobotany will be given strong consideration. Geographic area is
open, although eastern North America is of interest to the department.
The successful candidate will join a growing and dynamic anthropology
program emphasizing the four-field approach, fieldwork, and cross-cultural
experience with three full-time faculty and 90 undergraduate majors in
anthropology (housed within a joint department of seventeen full-time
faculty and over 200 majors).
