Professor Bernard Chasan writes:

>Janos Gereben describes Peter Schreier's performance of the Wintereise
>cycle as "joyous". That sounds quite impossible. The cycle is about
>despair and madness - about as joyous as Wozzeck. Yet Janos is a reliable
>observer of the music scene. What am I missing?

JPrevite clarifying (I think!) Janos' description: I suspect he means a
joyous, wonderful, insightful and illuminating performance, not that the
performance is rendered joyously.
