John Halbrooks asks:

Since you ask, let me hazard the following: under Rattle the BPO's
center of musical gravity will shift from its longtime attempt to dominate
the mastery of the Bach-Beethoven-Brahms-Bruckner skein of CM, to the
attainment of mastery of the things that Rattle likes to play. In the end,
I prophesy in a small voice, the BPO will emerge a great orchestra like a
score of others.
