I recently got to hear Thomas Quasthoff sing the Brahms Requiem with the
Chicago Symphony at the recent ACDA national convention. What an utterly
amazing singer! I came right home and ordered every cd I could get my
hands on. Thus far I have listened to his Winterreise, which I found to
be stunning, and his Schumann recital, equally fine. I've some Bach and
Mozart on the way. Some of you may know that Mr. Quasthoff has a severe
physical disability, and for him to have overcome it and sing in the
magnificent way that he did in Chicago reduced me to tears. I wonder if
anyone else has thoughts on this great artist. I would love to correspond
with him if anyone knows how to reach him.
