As much as I respect Don's taste, I find his omission of Leonhardt
reprehensible. Leonhardt's 1965 Teldec recording must be considered on of
the great performances of this fascinating work. I would eagerly second
Hantai (incidentally a Leonhardt pupil), particularly for the luscious
sound of the Dutch harpsichord used in the recording. Rousset, for some
reason, leaves me unmoved. Ton Koopmans gives a performance full of verve
and bravura. An exciting performance which I would recommend.
