Have no data of myne own regarding shroud pins in burials, but I am
wondering what, besides that it was found in a burial context,
differentiates a shroud pin from a pin for other purposes. I've seen pins
of the 18th and 19th centuries binding cloth, manuscripts, plant specimens,
... even excavated a bunch of them on the 18th century contexts at Belair
Mansion in Bowie MD (JGG do you recall these?) and have seen them in other
assemblages of many periods.
