I am curious about how the idea and planning of the conference came about.
I gather that its proposal and implementation was a rather sudden since it
didn't recieve much advance notice in SHA mailings/newsletters.  In fact, its
billing in the SHA newsletter seems a bit understated for something sponsored
by the society....
