I'm not certain how close the similarities, but Alan Ferg has recently
tested/partially excavated an historic kiln at a 19th-century Mormon
colony on the Little Colorado River near Winslow, Arizona (either Brigham
City or Joseph City, my memory has just failed me and I'm posting from
home without benefit of reports and bibliographic files). Alan is the
Archivist for ASM, and may be reached by snail mail at Archives, Arizona
State Museum, University of Arizona, Tucson AZ 85721.
