One effective way to gather really compelling stories, especially about
aging, is to contact an academic dept related to gerontology at a local
university. For example, when I was a faculty member, I asked graduate
students at the master's and PhD levels to interview individuals in
retirement communities, independent living centers, assisted living centers,
etc. asking what they remember most about their lives, best/most difficult
times, advice to young people today, etc. The resulting stories were
poignant, bittersweet, amazing and breathtaking all rolled into one.

Dear Colleagues in the Informal Science Education Network:

The Koshland Science Museum would like to hear your viewpoints on growing
older. We are requesting video submissions of personal stories for the new
"Life Lab" exhibit, opening in March.

Share your story (or encourage your visitors to share their stories), and
submit a video by February 29 for possible inclusion in the exhibit launch.

For a list of video topics and submission guidelines, visit
http://www.koshland-science-museum.org/events/upcomingevent.jsp?id=524.

Please feel free to contact Erika Shugart, Ph.D., deputy director of the
Koshland Science Museum, or me at [log in to unmask] if you have questions or would
like additional information.

Regards,
Amy Shaw
