Gustavo Dudamel and his contingent of Venezuelan youngsters knocked LA
for a loop on two successive evenings: Mahler and Beethoven Fifths along
with Moncayo/Marquez/Ginastera on the second night. I don't know how
to describe what I heard and felt without rhapsodizing. They tore the
roof off of Disney Hall. If they're in your area, don't miss them.

As far as I can see, Dudamel is the real deal. We get him at the helm
of the LA Phil in 2009. I only wish it could be earlier.
