I would remove the drain and resume nursing on the affected side. As Cathy
said, the leaking will likely decrease once baby is removing milk
again...but probably will not stop for a while. The wound needs to heal
from the inside out, and the milk will keep it bathed in protective
elements. Where is this mom? Michigan?
If this surgeon is willing to look at the ABM protocol for complications of
mastitis, it says "breastfeeding may continue" after incised.
