Brevard Community College is currently seeking applications for the
full-time position of Director/Public Archaeologist for the Titusville
Campus in Titusville, Florida.  

 

The Director/Public Archaeologist will focus on east central Florida
area and provide public outreach, assistance to local governments, and
assistance to the Florida Division of Historical Resources, Florida
Department of State in its archaeological responsibilities. This
position serves as director of the East Central Region of the Florida
Public Archaeology Network and will be responsible for supervision of
Center staff and oversight of all administrative and budget
responsibilities of the Center.  This position requires extensive travel
in an eight-county area within east central Florida (Seminole, Orange,
Osceola, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee), and
includes flexibility with work schedules to include some evenings and
weekends.

The minimum qualifications for the positions include: 

*        Master's degree from a regionally-accredited institution in
archaeology OR in anthropology with a specialization in archaeology and
two years of appropriate experience

*        Experience in teaching and working with volunteers

*        Computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office  

*        Excellent communication, public speaking, and organization
skills

*        Excellent presentation skills (presenting archaeological,
historical and ecological information to lay audiences  

*        Official transcripts of all collegiate work will be required to
be considered beyond the application phase*    

* Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from
the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the
first day of employment. All foreign degrees must have a
course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human
Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the
National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).

 

The annual salary is $60,000.  This position is externally funded.
Full-time employees of Brevard Community College receive fringe benefits
including health insurance and a retirement plan.

Orientation prior to beginning work.  All employees of Brevard Community
College must undergo fingerprinting for the purpose of conducting a
criminal history check.  A $50 non-refundable fingerprint processing fee
will be collected by payroll deduction upon the beginning of employment.
