I must have missed the subject that involved ASTC members supporting this.

Or could it be that you are now unfairly painting your Colleagues in the
museum field as liberal, feces art-loving, atheists?  Aren't you essentially
doing the same thing that those you are complaining about are doing?

Most colleagues I've met are *very* open-minded.  Admittedly there are a few
I've met who think that people should not be religious - but they are
rare...and none of them seemed to like "feces art." ;)

I'm not sure why the comment about people raising their children to "fear
the Lord" concerns you. In this case "fear the Lord" generally translates as
"respect the Lord." The world can do with a bit more respect all around. 
 
I wish people responding on this message board didn't always assume that
everyone who is a part of ASTC rejects Christianity. I wish that my
colleagues in the museum field didn't feel that people who teach their
children creationism should be reported to the DYFS--but have no problem
supporting alternative art that involves feces and the Madonna. I think that
one comment I do agree with from Mr. Sharp is that "Creation isn't a
scientific debate, it's a religious one." Some Christians reject evolution
entirely. Some Christians have no trouble reconciling scientific dating,
evolution, and the Bible. If you want to really have a good solid scientific
discussion about evolution and creation, you ought to check out Dr. Ben
Carson on the subject.
 
Frankly, I generally wince and stay quiet when this subject comes up. Much
of the creation science is weak and distorted...but I also find the
evolution science lacking in objectivity as well. This is an emotional issue
where people are generally trying to justify positions they already have
without rationally examining the evidence on both sides. The fact is that
Christianity doesn't hinge on creationism vs evolution. The truth is
probably somewhere between the two extremes. But please don't say that I
should be reported to social services because I believe in God.
