I have seen a pull tab typology circulating in historic archaeology circles,
which I believe began as a graduate paper presented at a SHA Conference over
teh years. I found it amusing because I lived through many of those styles of
pop tops and pull tabs. Someone in here will undoubtedly report the exact
publication source for the modern can article in Historical Archaeology.
