Thank you all for the responses.  I feel truly lucky to have such a 
wonderful source of information and support.
Here is the update.
Mom saw Gastro on Thurs who told her to go off of dairy and soy (same as 
me).  Put baby on Zantac and Algical.  On Friday mom noticed a substantial 
difference- baby began nursing again.  Not fully, but a big improvement.
By Sat. Things began getting worse again.  She will eat a little, but now 
the improvement is very slight.  All blood/urine work came out normal.
I wanted the mother to make an appointment by an eating clinic as well as 
Gastro. At this point she is so overwhelmed that she does not understand how 
that will help.  She strongly feels that the problems only happen when baby 
is in pain- and when there is no pain she eats fine.  So the only thing I 
can tell her is to go back to the Gastro.  I have nothing more to offer her, 
and she seems to be having trouble following through on anything.  I 
explained that if she does not go back to the Dr and tell what is going on, 
he will not be able to help her further.
I am frustrated by this and by my lack of being able to get this baby to the 
appropriate places before the mother burns out and the whole thing falls 
apart.
