  The Jennie Wade House in Gettysburg has an area between the ceiling of the
first floor and floor of the second floor that supposedly hid slaves. Very
little head room but could hold several people lying down in an emergency for
a while. If I remember correctly, access was from a closet??? It's been years
since I was there. Tourists could/can? just see part of the way in from
outside.
