This describes my experience, although there's nothing casual about my
appreciation.  As a result, I don't know much about pop music.  I don't
mean this to sound snobbish - it's just a statement of fact.  I know there
are some listers who are equally at home with all forms of music, but I
have difficulty just keeping up with my CM collection.  Maybe I need to
sleep less.

Larry also used the phrase "popular American culture." If it's relevant
to the discussion, a braver person than I might care to suggest what this
is - or isn't.
