The American Chamber Ensemble's Long Island season opening concert,
Celebrating Leo, will be presented on Sunday, October 6, 2002, at 3 p.m.
when the Music Department of Hofstra University presents ACE at the
University's Monroe Lecture Center Theater on California Avenue in
Hempstead.

ACE will celebrate Great Neck composer Leo Kraft on his 80th birthday with
the World Premiere of his Three Pieces for clarinet, cello and piano. The

piano, Chopin's Polonaise Brillante for cello and piano, American composer
David Diamond's Quintet for clarinet, 2 violas, 2 cellos and Anton
Rubenstein's Sonata for viola and piano.

The Leo Kraft premiere will celebrate the music of this great American
composer and open the 2002 Festival of Long Island Composers. ACE will
also present music by another great American composer - David Diamond.

Tickets for the October 6 concert are available at the Hofstra University
Box Office for $10 ($8 senior citizens 65+ and non-Hofstra students). One

Ensemble, pianist Blanche Abram and clarinetist Naomi Drucker, who will be
joined by other ACE core members.

The American Chamber Ensemble explores the great chamber music literature
for clarinet and piano in combination with strings, woodwinds and voice
and presents performances featuring world-class artists. ACE consists
of the finest freelance musicians in the New York area and has been cited
by critics for their superb presentations of chamber masterworks. Their
latest CD on Elysium - American Clarinet Treasures - features core members
of ACE performing works by George Kleinsinger, Virgil Thomson, Daniel
Gregory Mason, Elliott Carter, Douglas Moore and Gary Schocker, with Guest
Artist Stanley Drucker

ACE concerts are supported by the Hofstra Music Department, and assisted
with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state
