Seeing the latest from Santu, I thought a further update is in order: my
daughter, who is not as steeped in classical music as her father (but has
started a small collection of Mozart Concerti and chamber works) saw the
updated "Amadeus" on the big screen in Los Angeles over the weekend and
enjoyed it very much. She's not aware of all of the nits we're picking,
but found the characters, relationships, and conflicts very moving; she
told me she'll return to her Mozart listening with a new appreciation of
his genius.

Given all the arguments at the moment about the dumbing-down of classical
radio, I count this single conversion as a bit of good news for our cause.
So let's go to the theatre, or at least Blockbuster, come September, and
see the full "Amadeus" for ourselves. Perhaps if we keep an open mind, we
can introduce others to Mozart, then clean up the revisionist history over
time.
